📌 PRE-SESSION CHECKLIST
1. **Secure Your Location:** Confirm your meeting space is safe, accessible, and free from distractions.
2. **Vett Your Mentors:** Ensure all volunteers have completed background checks and safety training.
3. **Gather Materials:** Prepare printed curriculum, sign-in sheets, and any necessary workshop tools.
4. **Set the Environment:** Arrange seating to encourage dialogue and ensure a welcoming atmosphere for all participants.
5. **Emergency Protocol:** Have local emergency contact numbers and established safety procedures ready for the session.

⏱️ THE 90-MINUTE SESSION TIMELINE
__PHASE 1:__ Welcome & Accountability Check-In (15 Minutes)
**Action:** Hand out water or coffee and let the men settle in.
**Open Session:** Lead group in reciting the creed. (provided below)
**The Debrief:** Open the floor with this exact question: "What specific street pressures, triggers, or crew dynamics did you have to fight through this past week?"
__PHASE 2:__ Media & Core Teaching (10 Minutes)
**Action:** Play the “Plea to a Gang Member” video each week to remind them why they are here.
**Lock-In:** Have a volunteer read the week's Anchor Scripture or The Hook out loud to the room.
__PHASE 3:__ Open-Circle Discussion Core (30 Minutes)
**Action:** Discuss the Anchor Scripture… What does it mean? What does it mean to you?
**The Rule of Engagement:** You are a facilitator, not a preacher. Do not lecture. Ask the question, shut your mouth, and let the silence hang until they feel safe enough to fill it with their raw truth.
**The Boundary:** Enforce absolute conversational respect. Zero cross-talk, zero street posturing, and zero mockery. If a man is sharing his heart, the rest of the room is locked in.
__PHASE 4:__ The Commission & Covenant Prayer (10 Minutes)
**Action:** Read the week's hard-hitting Action Step out loud. Challenge them to execute it over the next seven days.
**The Circle:** Command all the men to stand up, lock arms in a tight circle, or place hands on each other's shoulders.
**The Shield:** Recite the dedicated Closing Covenant Prayer firmly over the men. If a specific man is facing a targeted threat or retaliation on the streets, lay hands on him and pray for immediate spiritual and physical protection.
__PHASE 5:__ The Brotherhood Dinner (25 Minutes)
**Action:** Transition immediately to serving a heavy, hearty, family-style meal together, or provide snacks or maybe a weiner roast around a fire.
**Mentorship:** Use this relaxed time to build real relationships. Talk about sports, look over trade skills (welding, mechanics, carpentry), laugh, and let them see what a healthy, stable family dynamic feels like.
**DISMISSAL:** End on an upbeat note, reminding them of the next session and to invite others.
NOTE: You will need to play the "Bring Someone to Christ" video on the home page. You will need to decide when to show it. And then explain that they have natural life and also a soul. The sooner you bring them to Christ, the sooner they will deny the Gang life.

Code Of Conduct
Confidentiality: What is spoken on the couch stays on the couch. Breaking trust kills the ministry.
Rivalries: If men from opposing sets wind up in your home, address it instantly: "The street code stops at my front door. In this room, you are brothers under grace. If you cannot hold that code, you must step out."
Strategies for Continued Growth
The Seamless Hand-off: Once graduation day arrives, partner directly with a local church bridge ministry to transition the men into long-term discipleship.
The Transition Ministry: Organize a dedicated follow-up circle—such as "Gangs to Grace Warriors"—to act as a permanent, anchor community for your graduates.
Custom Video Integration: Use the introductory video clips hosted on our Gangs to Grace page to replace or enhance the weekly Anchor Scripture segments.
Recruit Junior Leaders: Bring in a young minister or a formerly gang-involved graduate to help facilitate the living room discussions and workshops.

This script illustrates a raw, authentic exchange at street level between Marcus—a former crew leader who transitioned through Gangs to Grace and now works as a skilled welding apprentice—and Tremaine, an active member currently holding down a corner and resisting the call to leave the street life behind.
🎬 Scene Context
Location: A dark asphalt corner by a neighborhood store at twilight. Tremaine is leaning against a metal rail, eyes scanning the street. Marcus pulls up in his truck, steps out, and approaches him for a direct conversation.
🗣️ The Script
**Marcus:** "Yo, Tremaine. I was hoping to find you here. I’ve got something for you." (Marcus pulls a clean Gangs to Grace invite from his pocket and offers it). "We’re opening the living room this Thursday at 6:00 PM. No noise, no phones, just a safe space. I need you there on the couch, man."

Rejection Protocol

When he resists your invitation with anger, mockery, or suspicion, he is simply testing your authority and checking to see if your presence is a threat to his survival or his street reputation.
🧠 1. THE PSYCHOLOGY OF STREET REJECTION
Before you step onto the asphalt, you must understand why he is saying no.
THE ARMOR OF PRIDE: In street culture, showing interest in a church-based program looks "soft" to his peers. Mockery is his shield to protect his rank on the corner.

🦺 3. OPERATIONAL RULES OF ENGAGEMENT & SAFETY PROTOCOLS
• RULE 1: Always Operate in Pairs (The 2-by-2 Model)
Never step onto an active street corner alone. Go out in pairs. One mentor leads the conversation while the second mentor maintains situational awareness, keeping an eye on traffic, block movements, and body language.
• RULE 2: Respect the Hierarchy
If you approach a group and an older, dominant street leader shuts you down, do not challenge his authority in front of his crew. Address him with respect: "I respect your position, brother. I’m just leaving these tool clinic cards here. If any of your guys want to learn a trade and make legal money, the door is open to all of you."
• RULE 3: Keep It Short and Plant the Seed
You are not trying to convert him into a new creation in a 3-minute conversation on the asphalt. Your only goal is to drop a visual anchor (the card) and plant a seed. If the rejection is heavy, pivot smoothly and exit: "Alright, brother. I hear you. You know where to find me when you’re ready to build something permanent. Stay safe out here."
• RULE 4: Leave When the Atmosphere Shifts
If body language becomes tense, hands slide into pockets, or voices begin to echo down the block, the conversation is over. Your safety is paramount. Bless them firmly and walk back to your vehicle with calm confidence.
📋 4. POST-REJECTION MENTOR DEBRIEF PROTOCAL
After an outreach shift where your team faces heavy rejection, the Team Leader must conduct a brief 10-minute check-in before letting mentors go home.
DE-COMPRESS: Let the mentors vent. Shake off the street tension.
ANALYZE THE SEED: Remind the team that a "no" today is often the foundation for a "yes" three months from now when life on the block gets heavy or a crisis hits their home.
THE PRAYER OF PROTECTION: Intercede specifically by name for the young men who resisted the hardest. Pray that the Holy Spirit disrupts their sleep and reminds them of the words spoken on the block.
